The best coffee in Bangkok, Thailand

Bangkoks coffee culture is vibrant and thriving. Like many of its Asian counterparts the coffee scene here has undergone a huge renaissance in the past decade. Thanks to the younger generation it is now developing at a rapid rate. There are plenty of social cafes for people to gather, or franchised chains for standard no frills coffee, but undeniably the artisan and bespoke coffee scene has undergone an impressive uptake. It is now possible to find fantastic crafted coffees all over Bangkok. With a focus on roasting, establishing provenance of the beans and the skill of brewing the perfect cup, you’ll be sure to find incredible coffee options in Bangkok.

A guide to find the best coffee spots in Bangkok

As Is

45 Rama IV Rd, Pom Prap, Pom Prap Sattru Phai, Bangkok 10100, Thailand

Taking over an old shophouse in the bustle of Yaowarat Chinatown lies As Is. Surrounded by traditional Chinatown businesses – electrical supplies, pet stores, gold jewellers and hand crafted coffin makers- you’ll notice this boutique cafe is a nod to the future of the city. The warm industrial design is chic. With plenty of space for working in airconditioned comfort or (as is my preference) a step on the street front to watch the neighbourhood bustle by, this is an ideal spot to refuel. The coffee bean menu is changed regularly allowing guest roasters to showcase new & innovative methods. Highlights include beans from Peru, Ethiopia and Colombia (just to mention a few). The coffee here was consistently excellent and worthy of praise. A strong contender for a one of the best hidden coffee spots in Bangkok.
